Honouring survivors who came to Canada after the Holocaust and family members who perished

Tribute to Holocaust Survivors | Tribute to Holocaust Victims

This Virtual Memorial Site, preserved by the Centre for Holocaust Education and Scholarship (CHES) of Ottawa, is designed as a lasting tribute to Holocaust Survivors who moved to Canada after World War II, and to the Victims—family members who were murdered in the worst genocide in human history.

This site is unique in that it enables visitors to see at a glance the diversity of survivors (and their descendants) across Canada, including their countries of origin, the devastating human losses they suffered, and the families they painstakingly rebuilt. We also honour their family members who perished in the Holocaust—for every person there is a name.

Listings on this Memorial Site are by donation, enabling CHES to continue its mission of promoting knowledge and understanding of the history and legacy of the Holocaust.

Wherever a squirt of our blood spouted, that’s where our strength and courage sprouted!”—The Partisan’s Song, Hirsh Glick

How does one mourn for six million people who died? They left us without a trace, and WE are their trace.” —Elie Wiesel
