Shirley Siegel was a senior executive in the Public Service for over 30 years with a background in human resource strategy and policy development. She then took on the senior leadership role in human resources at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C. followed by two years at the UN Secretariat in New York working on ethics and personnel management issues in UN missions.

Shirley’s unique combination of skills/executive experience at international and national levels has brought fresh insight to her professional roles. She has volunteered both internationally (Guatemala and Portugal for Habitat for Humanity and Tanzania supporting secondary school education for girls and economic development for women) and in Canada focusing on social housing, children with developmental disabilities, and Indigenous Truth and Reconciliation.

Shirley’s interest in contributing to the important work of CHES is rooted in her core belief that fighting antisemitism, racism, and other forms of hatred is crucial and Holocaust Education is essential to driving change in current and future generations.
