Judy Young Drache is a retired public servant with 30 years of work experience in Canadian and international multiculturalism programs. Before joining the federal government, she taught university-level German language and literature courses in Montreal and Ottawa. Her undergraduate and graduate degrees are from Oxford and McGill universities. After retirement she returned to Oxford to complete a master’s diploma in Jewish studies. As a child survivor of the Holocaust in Hungary, Judy feels compelled to participate in educational projects that help to fight racism and promote social justice. In this she is supported by her husband Arthur and two daughters who urged her to conclude and write up her research on the family they never knew. Judy is president of the Canada-Hungary Educational Foundation and executive secretary of the Hungarian Studies Association of Canada.
