Through Their Eyes enables descendants of Holocaust survivors to carry on the work of their parents

using new media to reach today’s audiences.

Through Their Eyes Our Next Generation program brings descendants of Holocaust survivors (2G/3G) together to connect, learn, and educate our community about the Holocaust.  Participants support each other and participate in workshops to develop a presentation of their family story. Through Their Eyes speakers add their perspective on the Holocaust and provide intergenerational context on the impact of the Holocaust.

Bearing Witness
Through Their Eyes participants join our Speakers’ Bureau to share their stories in classrooms and in the community to help teach about the Holocaust and raise awareness of the consequences of hate. Our program tells stories from survivors of concentration and forced labour camps, partisans who resisted and fought for Jewish lives in the forest, children who were saved by the Kindertransport, and other family histories. Students are encouraged to think critically about hate and bias. They learn how the Holocaust was enabled through silence and the indifference of bystanders as well as by the actions of perpetrators.

“I just wanted to let you know that I stand with you. Your experience resonated with me and impacted me in a way I have never felt before.” – Adam

“Your stories really stick with me; I can’t even imagine having to go through all of that.  The pain and suffering you endured is scary and you are so brave.” – Madhav

“[Dr. Klein] was very interested and happy to answer all our questions. She wasn’t shy to share her story as a child and always had an answer to our interesting questions.” – Emyrah and Jason
