Teaching the Holocaust Through the Eyes of Children: Practical Resources for Grade 10 and Beyond

Join featured speaker Lisa Biton of Yad Vashem, World Holocaust Remembrance Center, for a workshop exploring how children’s personal stories can help students connect with the human experience of the Holocaust. Discover practical teaching strategies, lesson plans, and resources aligned with Ontario’s new Grade 10 Holocaust education requirements and explore how the experiences of children can provide a powerful lens for understanding this history.

Participants will gain:

• Practical, age-appropriate strategies for teaching the Holocaust in meaningful and engaging ways.
• Ready-to-use lesson plans on the MS St. Louis, and the Jewish War Orphans Project, among others, that will include information, resources, and activities that will help students examine the historical context, individual experiences, and broader themes of the Holocaust and its connection to Canada.
• Opportunities to connect Holocaust education to contemporary issues such as human rights, prejudice, discrimination, refugees, and the consequences of indifference.
