The Arie van Mansum Award was conceived and initiated by the Shoah Committee of the Ottawa Jewish Federation and is now managed by CHES. The award is a tribute to Dutch-born Arie van Mansum who emigrated to Canada after World War II and who was recognized by Yad Vashem as Righteous Among the Nations for saving Jews during the war.
The award is presented each year to a deserving teacher who meets specific criteria established by CHES and is presented by a member of the Arie van Mansum family at CHES’ Holocaust Education Month launch event.
