Shirley Siegel was a senior executive in the Canadian Public Service; her focus was human resource strategy and management. She took on the lead role in human resources at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C. followed by two years at the UN Secretariat in New York. Shirley has volunteered internationally (in Guatemala and Portugal for Habitat for Humanity, in Tanzania supporting education and development projects for women, and in Ottawa through involvement in social housing, children with disabilities, and Indigenous Truth and Reconciliation. Shirley’s interest in contributing to CHES is rooted in her belief that fighting racism and other forms of hatred is crucial and that Holocaust Education and remembrance is essential to driving change in current and future generations.
