Join your colleagues and administrators to hear Holocaust Education specialist Kelly Fives. After the events of October 7th and the outbreak of the Israel/Hamas war, teaching the Holocaust has become a heavily politicized issue in Canadian schools, often at the expense of teachers and students. In this workshop, Kelly will guide teachers through strategies and tools on how to address the history of the Holocaust in the modern-day classroom.
In addition, this workshop will guide participants on how to use the NHM IWalk App – a professionally curated bilingual, essential companion to the National Holocaust Monument. Providing valuable history and context, the IWalk App takes students on a journey through the destructive legacy of antisemitism during the Holocaust and its significance today.
Available through mobile devices, tablets, or computers, the IWalk App ensures an engaging and educational experience for both teachers and students. It provides an unparalleled learning experience which helps them to recognize and deepen their appreciation of the Holocaust’s enduring relevance today.
Kelly Fives is a passionate and creative Senior Educator of ConnectED. Through her work, Kelly empowers students to forge meaningful connections with historical narratives, develop empathy, and embrace intellectual risk-taking.
