CHES is pleased to announce that our program, Through Their Eyes, has been generously awarded Jewish Federation of Ottawa’s Jewish Journeys Grant. Through Their Eyes will empower the Next Generation to share their families’ stories and will benefit our community for years to come.
Thanks to this grant, our program will bring the families of Holocaust survivors together as a cohort to learn, share stories, explore their family history, and understand more about their collective identity as intergenerational survivors and Jewish people. As part of CHES’ mandate to preserve and share the voices of the survivors who have made Ottawa their home, this program will also bring new voices to our Speaker’s Bureau and continue to grow CHES’ capacity to provide much needed and requested Holocaust Education in schools and our community.
Please see the invitation below for information regarding the “Through Their Eyes” launch event.

Through their Eyes – Launch Meeting
Are you the child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a Holocaust survivor?
Do you want to learn more, research, and possibly retell your story?
Please join us July 11, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at the Nepean Centrepointe Library meeting room. We look forward to meeting you, sharing stories, and introducing The Centre for Holocaust Education and Scholarship’s Next Generation program. In Through Their Eyes presentations, a descendant speaker tells their family’s survivor testimony through their own lens.
We encourage to you bring an object or photo that relates to your family’s Holocaust experience.
Please RSVP here by July 4, 2023.
The Centre for Holocaust Education and Scholarship (CHES) commemorates and honours survivors and empowers future generations to learn from the lessons of the Holocaust.
